Lisa Gatzke is the Senior UX Engineer in the ARI’s Data Science program. She has over 16 years of user interface/UX design, data, and information design experience and is passionate about using design to help people see their data better.
Lisa began her career at NCSA in 1998 with the Automated Learning Group at NCSA, where she worked as the primary interface designer for a variety of software tools including the visual programming environment---D2K. She left NCSA in 2003 to join the startup software company, RiverGlass Inc., located at the University Research Park in Champaign. There she was the lead UX and Interface Designer, involved in all of the software projects at RiverGlass. In 2010, she rejoined NCSA working for the Innovative Software & Data Analysis Division, the CyberGIS Center and with various other researchers at the Center on a variety of software projects and interfaces presenting and visualizing mostly scientific data. In 2014, Gatzke joined Performance Gateway, Inc. located Madison, WI, where she was Senior UX Engineer. There she helped envision next-generation software concepts, interfaces and data visualization for their existing suite of software tools.
Gatzke earned a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1997. She earned a B.A. in English Literature from Taylor University in 1989.
