Dr. Santanu Chaudhuri is the Associate Director of Engineering System Design and Simulation at the Illinois Applied Research Institute. His areas of research interest include material design, heterogeneous catalysis, polymers and coatings, and energetic materials and propellants. He is directing the ARI's program in accelerated materials research. Dr. Chaudhuri has been involved on a wide variety of projects as a principle investigator, including work for the US Army Research Lab, the Joint Center for Aerospace Technology and Innovation, and private industry.
From 2006 to early 2014, Dr. Chaudhuri worked as an Associate Professor and Senior Scientist at Washington State University’s Applied Sciences Laboratory and Department of Physics and Astronomy. He was a Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Center for Functional Nanomaterials and Chemistry in its Nanocatalysis group from 2003 to 2006. He has published or contributed to over 40 research papers and articles on a diverse range of topics.
Dr. Chaudhuri earned his Ph.D. in Materials and Computational Chemistry from Stony Brook University in New York in 2003. He received his B.S. in 1995 from SAJC College in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering Chemistry.
