Information Processing & Systems

Mission

The Information Processing and Systems team aspire to bridge the gap between academia and industry through its mission of solving complex multi-domain problems in the areas of Information Processing and Extraction, C4ISR (Command Control Communication and Computer Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance), Remote Sensing, and Data Fusion.

Approach

The Information Processing & System team brings together over 30 years of collective experience building products and solutions for defense and commercial industries.  This positions them perfectly to partner with federal agencies, defense contractors, national labs, and commercial partners. Using their expertise, their approach is to build partnerships across the UIUC campus and leverage the best-in-class low-TRL (Technology Readiness Levels) research for submitting joint proposals to government funding agencies like DARPA, AFRL, ONR, and other DoD departments which look to solve applied problems. Working on applied problems, translating them into requirements, and delivering field hardened solutions is one of the core competencies of the team.

Tactical Center of Excellence

An ARI initiative bringing cyberinfrastructure to the tactical edge of the battlefield. The United States Department of Defense has identified enhanced cybersecurity competency of equal importance to its traditional land, sea, air, and space operating arenas. Minimizing cybersecurity threats has a strongly positive effect on U.S. homeland security and public safety, and will also benefit our overseas military and peacekeeping operations.
