ARI hosts Grainger students for metal additive manufacturing demonstration

5/9/2024

Earlier this month, ARI’s Senior Research Scientist Mohamed Aboukhatwa hosted students taking the Laser/3D printing class in the mechanical engineering department (ME498/598) for a real-life experience of metal additive manufacturing. The tour introduced students to laser powder bed fusion machine operations, common processing defects, in-situ process monitoring techniques, and tips and tricks for ensuring successful builds.  The tour was part of ARI’s additive manufacturing educational outreach program for Grainger College of Engineering students.
