ARI’s Contextual Innovation and Practice* group has worked with the Great Lakes & St Lawrence Cities Initiative to determine that shoreline communities expect to spend $2 billion in the next five years to combat the impacts of extreme weather events associated with climate change. A survey of more than 240 communities on the Great Lakes shoreline showed that communities already have spent three-quarters of a billion dollars to respond to coastal land threats.
